Find wilderness therapy in the deeply rural Yorkshire Dales
Come and spend some time in this still place, be calm in nature, either by the beck, under the trees or on the fells. Find your awe. Be guided to permanently transmute your distress to de-stress by finding the still place inside you. Once you recognise it and feel it, you can take it with you forever and use it wherever you are. 'Be a leader, if only of yourself' - and see your world and your relationships blossom and unfold. This unique combination of methods will uncover your cool, calm and happy self and empower you to build resillience through your life in this world.
Dogged determination seems to be magnetic and all my projects have attracted the most incredibly talented beautiful people who have all willingly invested their skills and time into making it all happen. Many have been inspired to go on and create their own facilities and develop ideas they started here. Nothing gives me more pleasure than when this happens! The more they spread the word and lead by example, the more people everywhere will change their economies and societies for the greater good; from small caring communities to caring countries to a surviving cared for planet.
Your health and wellbeing deserves this!
After 25 years as the 'wife of' an Army commander, Caroline took herself to Cyprus where she dreamt up, built and ran Ride in Cyprus Ltd for ten years - taking groups of tourists for treks through the forests, mountains and valleys of the Paphos forest. Fascinated by the effect the horses had on the clients, she trained as a 'Horse Assisted Educator' and licenced 'Horse Dreamer' in 2011 and ran many courses for groups and individuals.
Eighteen horses in ten years, (all of them working many hours out on the treks) and only two vet visits in that time inspired many questions. Caroline noticed the herd of horses often 'healing' each other in pairs, one keeping watch, the other lying flat out, absolutely relaxed. Just like a Craniosacral therapy session
When the opportunity to train as a CranioSacral Therapist arose she grasped it and qualified in 2016 after a 4 year training.
When building the stables, Caroline was suffering from painful hips and wondering how on earth she would manage to ride for 5 hours a day! She found that within 4 MONTHS of totally changing her diet, she was out of pain and her live blood test showed happy clean blood!
She also started a couple of Yurt initiatives in Cyprus and with the Healthy InTents business, clients would come and stay, eat 'Paleo' (following the San Bushmen model described by Geoff Bond) have Craniosacral treatment and Horse Assisted coaching. See the testimonials for some real life stories of 'what happened next'. They knew they needed to change their diet, but did not know how to incorporate it into their daily lives. Living a few days in the Paleo way shows clients how delicious and how much more simple this way of sustaining themselves is. They very soon notice how much better they feel and how their diseases quite often simply disappear. Their health and wellbeing improved exponentially.
Caroline brought the horses to UK,looking for the perfect spot to practise wilderness therapy and found this derelict barn... then amazingly found she was one valley away from where all her ancestral family is buried at Richmond.... and well, the rest, as they say is history about to be written!
We love our clients to pop in, so drop me a line and I'll meet you to show you around, so you can feel how to be calm in nature and practise undisturbed wilderness therapy to improve your health and wellbeing

Dive in and give your nervous system a holiday with this holistic therapy derived from osteopathy and restablishing a fluid connectivity throughout the spine.
That's a new one to you? It was to me too, but when it was laid on a plate in front of me in 2013 I felt it would be rude to myself not to explore!
"Craniosacral therapy is a very gentle, light touch approach that releases tensions deep in the central nervous system so that every other system in the body can relax and self-correct. It helps you naturally free yourself from pain, stress and discomfort. It's performed on fully clothed clients on a comfortable massage table." (Sharon Desjarlais)
My introduction to becoming a Craniosacral therapist was the most exciting experience of unlearning in my whole life. As the treatment protocols became innate so did my life take an incredible turn towards the truth. Shaving off huge swathes of learned and habit behaviour revealed a new meaning to my existence and a newfound deep, free diving ability to access the sense of awe.
Healing is found in stillness - and calmness is found in nature - the body is remarkable at trying to be still, physically and in our minds, so that it can heal itself. However our modern selves insist on tripping up that innate system by refusing to surrender and loading ourselves with drugs which prevent us from feeling. So instead of healing we exacerbate and compound.
Until we snap.
'There is no Such Thing as Trauma' - discuss!
For example, we all have that friend who simply cannot go out because her nail is broken or his hair needs a cut; and that friend who has just had their house ransacked but still keeps her appointments the following day. Although stoicism has it's place it is important that it is not just an act, where really, the emotion of the trauma has been locked away only to resurface later where the block has caused a mental or physical dis ease. The level of trauma is commensurate with the attitude of the mind. It's how you deal or 'roll' with it.
I have an awesome herd of horses. In Cyprus I had 18 horses over 10 years, always kept as a herd. I had the vet twice... in 10 years. I felt I must just be lucky. Until I found Craniosacral therapy which explained it. Often, an early morning visit to the stables would find some of the horses lying down, completely asleep, each one with a herd mate sentinel standing in front of him, keeping watch. You could feel there was a strong sense of connection between the 'couples' - the one lying down and completely relaxed, the other, also relaxed but standing and entirely present. 'Ah', I thought, 'This is Cranio'; the relaxed horse is healing itself day by day, with a little help from his trusted herd mate, who is on duty, resonating with him and keeping him safe.
The quality of the therapist is important because the vulnerable, relaxing system of the client, needs to connect with a system which is so quiet, still and present that it can sense that it is truly listened to. (see my paper What is Craniosacral Therapy and How Important is the Integrity of the Practitioner In the Efficacy of Treatment)
Our thoughts each create a reaction in our body. We have all noticed that we can get a pain in the neck when we are entertaining stressful thought (we even use the phrase "That... is a pain in the neck"!) If the thought pattern is not changed, then the pain in the neck may be subdued with painkillers or we change the way we move in order to avoid the pain.... and so it moves somewhere else and so on until that hurty knee actually evolved from the hurty neck ...which started with a thought pattern. We spend much of our modern lives in the usually stress causing Beta thought wave. Unless this is balanced with quality time in Theta and Alpha (the theraputic and sleep states) the sum difference will equal the level of stress we suffer.

The Paleo lifestyle revolution
Caroline offers comprehensive studies and real life stories of people getting over health issues such as asthma, depression, diabetes, obesity, aching bones and joints and acid reflux through changing their lifestyle and diet.
There is an exploding global health problem caused by a population under stress practicing unhealthy nutrition due to a lack of understanding and misconceptions. Taking individual responsibility for our health is the simplest of things we can achieve once we focus and allow ourselves the time and space
Paleo lifestyle and CranioSacral and other therapies will be available to facilitate and enable clients to make a real and permanent lifestyle change which will have a positive long term impact on the health and wellbeing of our society.
Integrity and Authenticity are my key values for seeing my projects through from my passionate ideas to reality. Challenging the status quo is exciting, when gently but progressively, you see the initial resistance turn to a questioning intrigue and then acceptance, for the greater good.

Hello - just wanted to thank you again, it was an incredible experience! I must have released a tremendous amount of stuff, I was both, energised and drained by the time I got to bed that night, but today I feel and know that there have been so many positive shifts when I connected to the horses. Thank you! It also opened up a whole new world of therapy work that can be done, it was definitely worth the two and a half hour trip. All the best :-) Spring 2021

- No, you don't need to have any horsey experience at all. Most of my clients have never touched a horse before.
- Yes you do need sensible shoes and usually wet weather gear, but we have a couple of barns for shelter.!
- Yes you do need an open mind and you come with one, you will leave with an open heart too.
- Craniosacral therapy can be outside under the trees - basically, you lie on a therapy table face up and fully clothed. My job is to bring you out of your sympathetic (fight or flight) nervous system and into your parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system
